Kitty Douglas-Jones takes over as MD, July 2020
Douglas Jones is proud to announce that as of 1 July 2020 current Operations Director, Kitty Douglas-Jones, will take up the position of Managing Director of the business. Rens Rezelman, who has been with Douglas Jones for 7 years and has served as Managing Director for the past 5 years, has been approached to head up a financial technology company. We are losing an asset for Douglas Jones but we wish him the best of luck with his exciting new challenge.
Kitty, the youngest daughter of the Douglas Jones family, has been involved in the business for the past 12 years. She originally came from the travel and tourism industry before Robin, Kitty’s father and founder of Douglas Jones, approached her to setup and run the company in Mauritius. After 3 ½ years supplying product to the Indian Ocean Islands, Kitty was called upon to move to Johannesburg to establish the Douglas Jones boutique mosaic Gallery. In June 2013 Kitty relocated to Cape Town’s Head Office to focus on the marketing and operations portfolios.
Kitty’s appointment comes as the company implements a plan of strategic growth after what has been a very difficult six months globally in the wake of COVID-19. As the construction industry slowly claws back their place in the economy, Douglas Jones is learning to evolve and understand their customers’ needs in order to come out strong on the other side. Kitty leads by example and realises that people still recognize the quality of service and uniqueness to a product, and will be focusing a lot of energy on making the Douglas Jones brand more accessible to their customers. After 20 years of business, Douglas Jones remains a small and dedicated family run operation specializing in supplying exclusive tile decor products to the industry.
